Plumbing and heating customers search for specific services in specific places. This guide shows you how to make sure Google sends them to you, not your competitor down the road.
When someone in Hull has a leaking boiler at half past eight on a Monday morning, they do not search for "plumbing services East Yorkshire". They search for "boiler repair Hull" or "emergency plumber near me". The question is whether Google sends them to you or to the firm three streets away.
Most plumbing websites fail because they try to rank for everything at once. One homepage mentions boilers, bathrooms, leaks and servicing, and Google has no idea which search to send your way.
The fix is to build a dedicated page for each service. A boiler repair page. A bathroom installation page. A powerflushing page. Each one targets a specific search and gives Google a clear signal about what you do.
Your Google Business Profile is what shows up in the map pack at the top of local results. For emergency trades it is often the first thing a customer sees.
Make sure your profile has the right primary category, your full service list, accurate opening hours, your service areas, and real photos of your work. Keep your phone number and address exactly the same as on your website. Google checks this.
If you cover Hull, Beverley, Cottingham and the surrounding villages, do not just list them in your footer. Build a proper page for each area that explains what you do there and why local customers should call you.
The content needs to be real. A page that just says "We provide plumbing services in Beverley" is thin and will not help. A page that explains your typical response time in Beverley, the types of properties you work on there, and the services you offer locally is genuinely useful to both customers and Google.
When a customer lands on your site from Google, you have seconds to turn that visit into an enquiry. A phone number buried in the footer is not enough.
A sticky call button at the top of every page, a WhatsApp link, and a short enquiry form all help. The easier you make it to get in touch, the more of those Google visitors become actual customers.
Google uses review signals to decide which local businesses to show. A plumber with thirty recent positive reviews will usually outrank one with three old ones.
Ask every happy customer for a review. Send them a direct link. Do not buy reviews or offer discounts for them, because Google can tell and it will set you back.
Getting found on Google is not a one-off task. It is something you build into the website from the start and keep working on. If you want someone who actually understands plumbing and heating businesses to look at your site and tell you what to fix, get in touch.
